GRIND GRIND GRIND

4/10/2024 • John Fitzsimmons

The Leafs are currently struggling going only 5-5 in their last 10 heading into the last week of the season.  GM Fitzy still remains optimistic about the clubs chances.  " The club is doing very well in special teams play.  We are currently #1 on the Power Play and #9 on the Penalty Kill.  This needs to continue if we want to be successful."

The club has shown signs of being elite, but it still struggles with consistancy.  Fitzy claims " We are leading the league in Goals and are ranked #5 in Shots.  This is a strong metric, that identifies success."

Leading the way in player stats is William Nyander 48/46 94 pts, and Roman Josi on defense 21/73 94 pts.

The Leafs were relatively quiet at the trade deadline acquiring Connor Ingram for a prospect and couple of picks.  Fitzy claims, "We had a couple of big deals on the table but could not get across the finish line."  " The Ingram pickup for us was important for next season based on the health uncertainty of Freddy Andersen and the weak play of Karel Vejmelka. "Connor is having a good season in Arizona and is a great insurance policy."

Fitzy says, " This season has really been a grind for us."  "Expectations are to make a real push this year in the Playoffs." "We had a disappointing end to last year, and we are hopeful that this year will be different."

The team outlook is very strong for next season.
