Playoff Push....

Columbus trying to sneak into the playoffs.
4/4/2025 • Randal V.

With six points off from Buffalo, the Columbus Blue Jackets are trying hard to gain some ground and sneak into the playoffs.  The last 10 games have seen Columbus win 7, lose 2 and have 1 overtime loss.  Buffalo's record has been 5 wins and 5 losses.  Both teams have played 74 games and have an upcoming match against one another next week.

Johnny Gaudreau was the first player on Columbus to hit 20 goals and that was achieved by scoring a hat trick the other night against Nashville.  This stat is an indicator that - for this team to have success, one line for Columbus isn't going to dominate to earn wins, it is a 4 line effort - getting scoring throughout the lineup.  Goaltending has also been pretty consistent, whether it comes from F. Andersen or D. Cooley.

The last game versus Colorado

After a big win against Nashville two nights ago, Columbus was waiting for Colorado to come into town.  The Blue Jackets did not play a good game, as after one period, the score was 3 nothing.  The Avalanche scored again early to start the 2nd and there was a bit of bounce back, as Y. Gourde of the Blue Jackets was able to get one by Mrazek.  But that glimmer of hope was crushed soon after, as Colorado scored another to make the score 5 to 1.  Both teams would exchange goals in the third and that was the game.

Up next for Columbus?  Toronto and Ottawa
