Anaheim, CA - Althought the Ducks are only a few points out of playoff spot, they've decided to make a few deadline moves in order to prepare for the future, as they ship Malkin to Carolina.
Coach Eakins was quoted as saying "Geno wasn't happy here, and I think it was affecting the team, so now we can move on and let some youger guys get a chance and maybe push us to a playoff spot to get some experience."
Ducks also made a few other deals in moving Burakovsky to the Rangers for some youth, as they try to fill some of the cupborad left empty by the previous regime.
