Wild At The Break

2/19/2025 • Gary M

With a new GM coming to Minnesota during the offseason, there were questions about what to expect this season.

During the offseason, the new GM made moves that brought in veterans Kopitar, Carlson, and Varlamov in trades. While signing Henrique, Palat, and resigning Stone.

At the break the Wild are currently sitting at first place in the Central Division and second in the Western Conference with a 35-17-4 (74) record.

Mark Stone leads the Wild in points with 53. Followed offseason additiond Kopitar, 52 and Carlson at 44. Kopitar leads the Wild with 26 goals. While Carlson leads the Wild in assists with 35.

Varlamov has held the starting job in net and has produced a 25-15-2 record with 3 shutouts, a 2.87 gaa and .904 save %. However, the Wild appear set to go in a different direction next season with the addition of Vejmelka.

Rumors around Minnesota are that they could be in the market for a few upgrades before the trade deadline. Some speculation is that they'd welcome an upgrade on D by moving Myers and on the wing by moving Frederic. They also wouldn't rule out a deal for another goalie that could help lift the cup.
