NJ Devils Quietly Surging

Good Luck to the league!
2/16/2023 • Alex Devils

With much of the work in building this year’s roster coming over the last 2 years, the Devils GM has been very quiet this season. Letting the players do the work seems like a good approach considering they are battling for 1st in the division and 5th in the entire league. A star studded roster also loaded with depth, the Devils truly don’t appear to have a real weakness.

When your second line is Hall, Bergeron, and Tarasenko, yikes, the poor goalie.

When your goalie is top 5 Oettinger, watch out.

Special teams could be improved but the Devils have to be satisfied with how the season has gone. There were rumors that Karlsson would be headed to Colorado but the NJ GM didn’t pull the trigger, as of yet. A minor prospect trade was made, but truly radio silence from NJ which is odd considering the frequency of trades generally. Then again, looking at the roster with players like Pastrnak, Tuch, Debrusk, Karlsson, McAvoy, Morrissey, Oettinger… why mess with a group that will clearly work next season and beyond? The Devils have gone from a joke to a true contender in the blink of an eye and the GM should be applauded for the long term vision.
