New Head Coach Hired

Kris Knoblauch Replaces Dave Hakstol and Reunites with Connor McDavid
9/18/2024 • Christopher Cameron

After a brief press conference held today by the Oilers GM Cameron, we would like to inform the league that Kris Knoblauch will replace Dave Hakstol as Head Coach of the Edmonton Oilers for the 2024-25 season.

Knobluch inked a 1 year contract with the Oilers today and said he is glad to be reunited with Connor McDavid after his coaching days in the OHL from 2012-15.

Both GM Cameron and Coach Knoblauch agree the roster the Oilers will ice when the season begins has the potential to be a very competitive team and will make some noise.

GM Cameron was quoted as saying "We appreciate all Dave Hakstol did when part of our organization and there is no ill-will between either party from his departure.  The season did not begin yet, but by falling 3-0 in the pre-season, we hope to right the ship before the season kicks-off and we, the entire Oilers organization, feel new Head Coach Kris Knoblauch, is the person for this job.  Also, as far as our Farm Team (the Condors) goes, we are pleased to announce that Farm Head Coach Luke Richardson will remain the Head Coach for the Condors for the 2024-25 season."
