The Nashville Predators has quickly gone through their retool to build a team that could be considered a potential contender. This year expectations are a playoff spot, anything past that is all gravy.
With returning vets like Anze Kopitar, Jacob Chychrun and Drake Batherson and then the up and coming younger guys like SlapShot Ridly Greig and Thomas Harley the team will be nicely set to take advantage of the 2024 FA sessions.
In the pipeline there are several promising prospects such as Dalibor Dvorsky, Elias Pettersson, Shane Wright, Will Smith and Zach Benson the future looks great as well.
Areas of concern are mid 20’s forwards as currently the team only has 1 young 2nd player so that will need to be addressed in the near future. Probably a trade for a young d man for a forward would be something the team will look at in the off season.
Goaltending is still a concern but a surprise for this year is the emergence of Samuel Ersson. With aging vets Semyon Varlamov and Alex Stalock this may be not as bad as assumed. A combination of Varlamov and Ersson may be good enough for the next season.
