Philadelphia PA - Earlier this week the Flyers hired Shane Powell, a long time GM outside the TUFHL to run the helm. At his first meeting with the media he was asked what his goals and directions were for the team.
"Well, obviously the goal is to win the Stanley cup. The prior regime has left us with a lot of work to do to get there though. We have a lot of big names, but some contracts that are going to cause a lot of difficulty. Plus some key spots that need improvement. I've been doing this a long time, so i'll be very calculated in my moves and won't make moves for the sake of making moves. Right now, the roster is going through a full assessment and with free agency on the horizon the roster we see today might not be the one taking the ice come the regular season."
It'll be interesting to see what becomes of things here in Philly as a lot of fans are both excited and confused by the hiring of Powell. Excited to see what he can do to take the team to the next level and confused as they've never heard of him before.
