Columbus Blue Jackets...

Just over the half way point
1/25/2025 • Randal V.

After 49 games played, the Columbus Blue Jackets still continue with consistency problems.  Last game, they played Carolina in a hard match that went to overtime.  4 seconds into OT, it was all over.  After the game, CBJ coach John Tortorella had this to say "I think we were exhausted after the third - tying the game up late - In overtime, they caught us standing still.  Two blinks and it was over."

In the first trade this season, Columbus hooked up with Arizona:  IN - goalie D. Cooley  OUT - Sam Steel.

We've been scouting Devin Cooley for quite a while.  Felt like there was not enough opportunity for him in Arizona.  Glad that we were able to get this done - Columbus GM had to say.

D. Cooley was thrown into the net early, as Andersen was dealing with illness for a bit... a good six game test on the big club.  A.Schmid was sent down to the AHL and Cooley remains as the backup.

Leading the team in points is defensemen T. Sanheim with 8 goals and 29 assists.  Goal scoring does not come easy for this team and is done throughout the lineup.  Columbus GM continues to bring up young players from the AHL to get some playing time for the Blue Jackets.  The latest was winger S. Honzek, 5 GP and has yet to get a point.

Up next for the Blue Jackets?  A home game against the LA Kings... then the 'Jackets are on the road for four games.  Columbus will need to string together some wins to try and claw back into a playoff spot.
