Our next award is the Calder Trophy. The Calder is awarded to the player selected as most proficient in his first year of competition. Here are your nominees.
Anton Lundell - Toronto Maple Leafs
Lundell scored 19 goals and recorded 45 points in his rookie season while averaging just over 17 minutes of ice time per game. He only spent 22 minutes in the penalty box and ammassed 167 shots on goal while finishing a +10 on the season. He was good at both ends of the ice.
Moritz Seider - Detroit Red Wings
Seider recorded 44 points in his first TUFHL season including six goals. The physical defensman used his body to collect 157 hits and 89 blocked shots. He can be forgiven his -27 rating considering he averaged over 24 minutes per game as a top line defense on a team that couldn't be bothered to start their best goalie on most nights. He recorded 66 penalty minutes and 88 shots on goal.
Matty Beniers - Seattle Kraken
Averaging over 16 minutes of ice time per game, the young center scored 13 goals and finished with 39 points. He collected 75 hits and 137 shots on goal while only ammassing 31 penalty minutes. He finished the season a +6 and has a bright future on this up and coming Kraken team.
