Avs Ready to Strike

Fans are hungry for another cup
3/27/2023 • Kirk Blake

Last season, the Avs entered the playoffs  with an impressive 62-16-2 record. They boasted probably the best top 6 in the league and had Patrice Bergeron playing third line minutes, hell Colorado was practically invincible.

Then they Ran into an Oilers team they though they would just roll over in 4 games. Well the Oilers had another idea and that invincible team was out.

GM Blake nearly wrote off the team this off-season after the loss to the Oilers.

But like Blake has done year after year, he can not just blow it up as the competitive blood runs in his veins.

"I really thought it was time to rebuild, we dangled connor out there and was very very close to sending him to a team in the east.

We did decide to make a few changes and shipped Bergeron and Pastrnak to the Devils in a deal for Rantanen." Blake said

Blake has never truly sent out the big stars without bringing in quality TUFHL ready talent however some people question his last few moves bringing in Huberdeau and Patrick Kane.

"Well sometimes you have to give to get, we were working all year to try and land Tkachuk, Ott was adamant that if they were to deal Bardy that Kane was going to be added to the deal as well, once we added Miro Heiskanen the deal with Ottawa came full force as Chabot was quickly swapped for Miro and Kane became a Ave with Brady and Chabot. That's how you rebuild and reload at the same time. With regards to Huberdeau we felt we needed a playmaker to help Ovi start scoring. We know he will rerate lower next year however we are confident he will be back in the next few yrs." Added Blake

The Avs's are set with a dynamic duo of goaltenders Darcy Keumper and Thatcher Demko and Blake feels they are probably the best 1-2 punch in the Tufhl and should be ready for a long playoff run.

At the start of this season, odds-makers once again favored Colorado to win THE TUFHL Cup, Perhaps their recent play and the pending return of a number of high-potential contributors from injury is a message from God that they are capable of getting back to the finals so once again when the calendar changes to playoff time they will be ready to strike like a provoked prairie rattlesnake.

So hold onto your helmets, cross your fingers and toes, and get ready for an exciting race to the finish line. At a minimum, it should be filled with rambunctious fun - especially in Ball Arena at a mile
