Avalanch still looking to find the right line combinations and some consistency.
One of the Major obstacles for coach Bednar is finding chemistry with his lines. GM Blake has brought in a wealth of talent and on any given night opponents have a very difficult time shutting down the 3 headed monster of Crosby, Mackinnon and Eichel down the middle. However Bednar had this to say when asked who is his number one line “When a line decides to start performing consistently I will be ale to tell you”
As we watch Rantanen, Mathews and Pastrnak sit 1,2,3 in the scoring race one has to wonder how no Avalanche player is in the top three. I think this falls on coach Bednar. GM Blake was not very happy when asked about the lack of his players in the top 3. “We are at the 55 game mark and we have a long ways to go, these guys better start putting up some major points or I promise you that drastic changes will be made at seasons end”.
Gm Blake was asked about the decision to move out fan favourite Panarin early in the year, “Well that was a tough one for us, we knew that He should be playing first line minutes and not sitting on the 2nd line, he approached us an asked if the opportunity arose to move him that we would consider it, at the time of the meeting we were in conversations with Carolina regarding J.J. Moser so we shifted focus to a larger deal with Eichel involved. We loved adding Jack with him being younger than Artemi and also picking up Moser.
We wanted to keep high level talent but get younger and I feel we did that.
Now if we can find some chemistry we can have a nice finish.
