Pick #8 Zayne Parekh (Defender)
When pick #8 rolled around, the Wings were hoping one of the big forwards would slip down to them. After all they were set on defense for a long time with the likes of Seider, Hughes, and Hutson already on the team.
When Parekh was still there, it was too hard to pass him up. The Wings top 4 on defense should be set for years to come. His numbers this past year were amazing posting 33 goals and 63 assists for 96 points. They say he might be the most skilled blueliner Canada has seen since Cale Makar. If he can round out his defensive game, this could be one of the best picks of this year’s draft.
Pick #40 Ryder Ritchie (Winger)
Detroit added RW Ritchie with their 2nd pick of the draft. Ryder was one of the youngest players of this year’s draft. After posting 44 points in 47 games, he did put up the numbers when it mattered the most, posting 8 points in 7 WJC-18 and 9 points in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. His skill and quickness should come in handy when he finally makes the jump to the pro club.
Pick #72 Henry Mews (Defender)
A highly skilled offensive defensemen but on the shorter side. He doubled his point production from a year ago. Posting 61 points in 65 games to go along with 7 points in the WJC-18, the offense won’t be the problem as his fluid puck-moving should help the PP. He will need to round out his game when it comes to defensive aggression. Could turn out to be a good 2nd pairing.
Pick #73 Luka Misa (Center)
26 goals 55 assists 81 points in 66 games
Pick #98 Clarke Casewell (Winger)
26 goals 51 assists 77 points in 68 games
Pick #104 Erik Mateiko (Winger)
23 goals 20 assists 43 points in 49 games
Pick #136 Tomas Suchanek (Goaltender)
14-10-5 record in the AHL
Pick #168 Jakub Fibigr (Defender)
7 goals 36 assists 43 points in 61 games
Pick #200 Ilya Pautov (Winger)
15 goals 30 assits 45 points in 46 games
