In the Mighty East

New Jersey (8-3) VS Montreal (8-5)

 

In season these two teams met twice.  The result was a 2-1 JERSEY followed by a 4-3 OT MONTREAL win.  Through the first two rounds, the Habs have been playing even hockey.  Plus 1, 14.5 % Power Play and 90% Penalty Kill.  Goaltending has been strong with Smith and a 938 save percentage.  The Devils with a plus 9 in goals sporting a 19.4 % power play and backed by goaltending of 931 looks to be insurmountable for Remi's Habs.  The Weakness in the high Flying Devils is a PK close to 80 %.  This series may be won on the special teams.

 

In the West

The ever consistent Aves vs the upstart Kings 

In Season these teams met twice.  Each team winning at their opponents' area. 

The Ave' took game 1 by a score of 3-1.  The Kings won in OT, 3-2.  The Aves have started a little slow this playoff but are looking like the team that can do it again.  With a plus 10 in goals, a 21.2% power play, 82% penalty kill and 922 save percentage,  there is no doubt they are the team to beat.   The Kings come in the underdog hoping to continue through to the story book ending. Having to go seven games and being down in both of the previous series, these numbers  do not look good.  Plus 1 in goals, 15.2% power play, 76% penalty kill, and a 910 save percentage, It looks like NO Contest.
