Hot Stuff Coming Through

1/17/2022 • Remi Rainville

The Habs are hot again winning their last three games.  It's been a difficult stretch for Montreal with the losses pilling up, endless goalie issues and a shooting percentage that dropped to 10% or 31st in the league.  Our centers win faceoffs, our special teams work (22.5%pp and 4th best pk) and only one team in the league takes more shots on net.  It didn't make sense until Vincent Trocheck was injured and GM Rainville and the coaching staff took a harder look at the numbers.  That was where they discovered the issues and made changes to the lineup.

Since adjustments were made the Habs are 3-0.  Outshooting opponents 124-67 and out scoring them 17-5.  Sure one of those teams was the crappy St-Louis Blues run by a drunken ogre who only logs on when he emerges from his cave.  But that ogre has one of the best records in the West.  Montreal has the ability to beat the top teams in this league.  The problem is finding consistency from game to game, especially in net.

So for now the Habs are comfortable as they face the bottom dwelling Wild in their next matchup.  Casey DeSmith has returned from his injury, Marco Scandella has emerged from his season long slump and the top six is thriving.  One can only hope that this streak continues instead of digress into another run of inconsistency.
