Bolts capture the Cup!!!

Lightning claim their first TUFHL Championship...
6/22/2022 • Randy Blake

The Lightning beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-5 Tuesday night to end the final in 4

games straight to win the Cup.

It was a back and forth game as both teams scored multiple goals in each of the first 2

periods but Brad Marchand scored the winnner on the Power Play with under 3 minutes

to play for his fourth goal of the game.

Marchand picked up at the deadline from Colorado has payed dividends for the Lightning,

"We came into the final knowing we needed to step up our game, tonight we battled right

to the final buzzer" Said Marchand

Boeser and Marchand led the team in playoff scoring with 27 points in 21 games,

"we knew we needed a little boost at the deadline but didn't have much going on till

late into the evening when Gm Blake phoned me and asked what i thought of bringing in

these guys along with veteran D Keith Yandle and without any hesitation the answer

was let's do it" Said Cooper.

Goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy finished the playofs with a 16-4 record with a 2.48 GAA

in 21 games, Vasilevskiy had this to say"Nothing is given in this league and without these guys in

front of me we don't win anything, i do what i can, some night good and some nights bad, but when im

off these guys pick me up like tonight with 6 goals and Marchy having a hell of a game.

The Lightning in no way had an easy time getting here they had to battle the Bruins, Canadiens

and the high flying Hurricanes who have given the Bolts some headaches over the last two seasons.

The Oilers surprised many during this playoff run after a fourth place finish during the regular season

taking out Vegas in round one, Nashville in round two took 7 games and then they took out

the power house Avalanche in 6 games to advance to the finals.
